The IMPACT Project (Immunization and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services) is a World Bank and Islamic Development Bank-funded initiative implemented through the Government of Nigeria to strengthen immunisation coverage and malaria control nationwide.
AVO Health Limited serves as a Non-State Actor (NSA) implementing partner for the malaria component of the IMPACT Project in Abia State, Nigeria. This initiative aims to reduce malaria-related morbidity and mortality by improving access to, and the quality of, malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services.
As part of this project, AVO Health is working closely with local government authorities, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders to:
- Scale up malaria prevention coverage through the distribution and proper use of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs).
- Improve case detection and management via strengthened diagnostic and treatment protocols at health facilities and community levels.
- Enhance community engagement through behaviour change communication and targeted outreach campaigns.
- Strengthen health systems capacity for data collection, monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making to sustain malaria control efforts.
Operating in eight Local Government Areas (LGAs), our interventions are integrated with broader immunisation and primary healthcare activities under the IMPACT Project framework. This ensures synergy across health services, maximising reach and improving health outcomes for underserved populations.
Through the IMPACT Project, AVO Health is contributing to Nigeria’s national malaria control strategy, supporting the goal of achieving universal access to malaria prevention and treatment services while building resilient, community-focused health systems.
